I love police law. Really. Early on in my career I thought I might be one of those fancy corporate lawyers, then maybe planning but no, in practice just not for me. Police law, to me, is interesting and rewarding and I can help those striving to protect us in ways that I am actually very good at. I specialise in defending claims against the police - false imprisonment, assault, trespass, unlawful search, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office, breaches of the Human Rights Act 1998, claims under the DPA/GDPR and judicial reviews. Being in-house also means that I get involved in many other things including one off advices and big projects effecting the way officers and staff work.
