I have been doing my best to educate both youth as well as adults on the importance of knowing your Auto Insurance policy, and being responsibly insured - not only because of the law, but because state minimum requirements for auto insurance are FAR too low - where I worked we didn’t even offer state minimum liability insurance - I was educated about this myself through getting my P&C license, but until I was t-boned by a 20 year old driver who ran a red light (I am grateful and proud of this kid for admitting on scene that he ‘just wasn’t paying attention’ - which we all have done, it truly was an accident) however. he had state minimum liability coverage - in Colorado this is 25/50 ($25k per person in your vehicle, 50k cap per accident,$25k to me) if you have any assets, you open yourself up to being personally sued if you lack proper coverage.
