About Amy Stratton

I am what happens when you combine the best of a type A personality with a type B. That is, I am confident, competent, and driven for results, but I'm also easy going, flexible, and I love helping people. My career is heavily focused in finance and accounting as well as general operations. In addition, I am a seasoned and well-liked people leader. More interestingly, I have unusual experiences that involve research and innovative approaches to novel problems. Some examples:* I was a sustainability researcher for a multi-billion-dollar tech development and investment firm. I was charged with finding ways to better the planet using the firm's unimaginable resources.* I was the second employee at a start-up that found a way to sustainably reduce food waste in commercial fishing.* I performed an extensive carbon footprint and sustainability analysis for Seattle University's 2010 expansion. The bulk of my career consists of operations and accounting in the medical industry and higher education. For 7 years, I collected and accounted for millions of dollars in revenue per month for a major skilled nursing home. My work there also included contributing to all areas of the business office operations. Since then, I have run all operations, accounting, and administrative functions for the University of Portland's business school. I directly manage 15+ staff, and I have a 'dotted line' management relationship with around 50 faculty. I am responsible for the full life cycle of a multi-million dollar budget as well as accounting for small project budgets. While I report to the dean of the school, I also have responsibilities to other departments of the university including the most senior levels. This a partial list of my skills: strategic planning, budgeting, purchasing, initiating and completion of contracts, invoicing, and employee training. Also, A/P, auditing, business law, estate planning/administration, employee training, sustainability, research. What I'm most proud of is my experience teaching business technology to university students. I enjoy combining my technical knowledge of Excel and other business programs with connecting and mentoring students. Its the most real-world example I can think of my advanced emotional intelligence skills.
