About Amy Tevis

After I graduated from Erie Business Center, back in 1987, I held administrative positions for the next several years. It was while I was working one of these jobs, going literally nowhere, that I responded to an alumni questionnaire -"where are you now","what are you doing","where do you see yourself in 5-10 years". I knew there was more out there for me than data entry and I had begun studying to take my real estate exam - I included all of this in my response. It wasn't even a week when the director of Erie Business Center at the time asked me to come in for an interview. He said to me "I'm curious why a secretarial graduate wants to sell houses". I was hired as an admissions representative, lent a company car and given a meager expense account, but I was on my way. Now, back in the early 90's schools could still give recruiting bonuses and we had a great bonus structure, which I maximized over the next year. Ultimately, I ended up in post-secondary recruiting for 17 years (15 of which was at EBC). Although I would go back to school years later and get my BA in Accounting, my true passion is being a solution provider and someone who can help match an individual who has intention with an available opportunity. I ultimately ended up in Human Resources, circling back around to learning and development, recruitment and retention.
