About Amy Thornton

I have previously graduated from Northumbria university with a Bachelor of Science (honours) degree in Psychology (Health Psychology) with a second-class honour (upper division). I have also completed my masters degree and been awarded with a commendation in MSc Health Psychology. My current role involves working in a children and young persons psychiatric hospital as a nursing assistant. This involves conducting observations, monitoring physical and mental health, developing therapeutic relationships, and managing challenging behaviour, aggression and violence and supporting those with mental health difficulties. My previous work experience consists of working in retail and care work both within the community and in supported living care settings for elderly service users. Working in these organisations has improved my communication skills due to working with a range of different professionals and service users. I am extremely reliable and polite, which has allowed me to excel in face-to-face interactions. I enjoy learning about mental health as this is something that I am passionate about.
