About Amy Vidal

I’m a driven person fueled by curiosity. I’m currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences with minors in American Sign Language and Deaf Studies and Chemistry. In the Burslem lab, my current project aims to synthesize an improved therapeutic with few, if any, off-target interactions. I previously studied PRMT1, a protein relevant to both acute myeloid leukemia and triple negative breast cancer, under the mentorship of Jenna Beyer and Dr. George Burslem. In the near future, I foresee myself exploring other avenues of research during graduate school, such as drug discovery, and strengthening the intersection between chemical biology and neuroscience. I imagine many projects utilizing chemical/biochemical methods demystify how mental health illnesses arise and function at the molecular level. Apart from my studies, I would love to continue mentoring students, especially if they come from underrepresented backgrounds like myself.
