Background
About Amy W.
Story” is what makes me tick, both professionally and personally. In February 2018, I decided to forge my own path and parlay my love of story into something new. Since then, I have made “story” my professional focus in two ways: 1) Communications Consultant to Nonprofits: At the root of every great organization is a great story, and my job is to tell – and sell – that story. The content I produce bends with an organization’s needs, from detail-driven grant applications to fun and snappy social media content. I have experience in grant writing, web content (including story-driven blog posts and from-scratch web copy), basic (but bold!) graphic design, and social media engagement. I absolutely enjoy teasing out what an organization’s constituents need to know – and why – and then presenting this information in a simple and action-oriented way. 2) Producer of Library Events/Blogger/Book Reviewer/All-Around Literary Advocate: Like many people, I love to read. For over five years, I have transformed this hobby into one aspect of my work. In 2012, while living in Ireland, I began reviewing books for publications such as the Dublin Review of Books and Books Ireland. I also worked for two years with the Dublin Book Festival. Since then, I have continued to write regularly about books on my blog, ALifelyRead.com, and share thoughts about books and libraries via Instagram (@alifelyread). In 2018, I teamed up with the Goodnow Library Foundation to produce a speaker series that it had launched earlier in the year. Through successful marketing and branding, the series (“Be Bold: Sharing Stories”) is now drawing 70+ people as well as a large virtual audience.(Stay tuned: More/new reading-related events on the docket!)
