About Amy Walmsley

I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse and began my career on an Adolescent Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. I have been extremely passionate about working within the field of mental health from a young age. During my training I was lucky to have exposure to many different mental health settings, including; Adult Acute Inpatient Adult CMHT Adolescent PICU Adult Rehab CMHT - Criminal Justice MH Nursing Older people's RAID Team Adolescent MSU Forensic Unit HMP - MH Team I have enjoyed any environment which I have worked, and I wish to continue my professional development by expanding my knowledge further and progressing within my career. I then progressed to being involved in the development of a new Service, which went live in 2019. This is the Rapid Response Team - Child and Young persons Crisis Pathway. I was within one of 4 new teams which have been developed to increase access to Mental Health Services for CYP. The Rapid Response Team aimed to be a 24-hour Service available to CYP's in Crisis and aims to reduce admissions to A+E, or emergency service involvement - by providing immediete access to a specialist Mental Health Service. I progressed further within the Crisis Care Pathway and I'm now a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, within the Greater Manchester Assessment and Inreach Centre (GMAIC). GMAIC is the gatekeeping and bed management team for any Tier 4 Inpatient admissions, for ages 13-18; covering the whole of Greater Manchester. I am an extremely motivated, committed and passionate person. I thrive off any challenge, and feel I work best within a high pressure environment.
