About An Standaert
I work as a lecturer in the Professional Bachelor program in Orthopedagogy at University College Ghent (HOGENT) and as a researcher at the Substance Use and Psychosocial Risk Behaviours research center (HOGENT). After completing my Master’s in Educational Sciences – Special Education (2003), I gained more than ten years of practical experience working with children and young people with diverse support needs. Today, my focus in research is on developing blended learning programs that empower professionals to promote mental and emotional health. In addition, I explore how digital tools can be used to support young people in the prevention of psychosocial risk behaviour. I partner with educators, care teams, and youth-focused organisations to reduce social risk behaviour and strengthen prosocial development in children and adolescents. I blend two decades of fieldwork with applied research and digital learning design. Always open to new challenges.
