About Ana Doval

Hi! I'm Ana Doval, a translator specialized in the video game industry. They tell me that I was born speaking English with a console under my arm. I guess they mean it metaphorically (because it would be strange if it were true), but the truth is that languages and video games have always been with me. I studied translation and interpretation at the University of Vigo, where I also completed a degree as a specialist in translation for the video game industry. During those years, apart from these studies, I worked for a Galician NGO (translating in different fields, proofreading and managing a team), subtitled a short film in various languages, did an internationalization scholarship at the University and helped to organizate some awards for videogame localization. Finally, in 2023/2024 I graduated from a Master's Degree in Translation for International Communication at the University of Vigo (MTCI). Recently, I worked on the localization of the video game Tintin Reporter: The Pharaoh's Cigars. This project is my first accredited job in video game localization, as I participated in its translation into Spanish and as a proofreader of its Galician version; my passion for this sector and the good experience within this project have motivated me to continue in this industry. Currently, I have started my PhD with the Translation and Paratranslation research group at the University of Vigo and I write for a website specialized in video games, manga and anime.
