I'm Anand Bhatt.I am a senior at University of Arizona.My major is Biological science with minor in Biochemistry. You can achieve anything in your life if you have courage to fight and sacrifice for it” – this quote by Lionel Messi is the source of inspiration in my life. It always imbues me with the hope and conviction that we must not hesitate in setting big goals in life. We can achieve big things in life by being persistent and climbing the small ladders of success.As a student, I consistently obtained good overall grades and performed well in individual subjects. My favourite subjects were Biology and Chemistry, and hence, after clearing high school, I opted for the Science stream. In Biology, I enjoyed studying the topics of Gene expression and regulation, Genome and Human Genome Project. I had a particular affinity towards the sub topics of Evolution and Genetics and obtained good grades in all of my semester assessments. I was equally interested in the practical aspect of Science and enthusiastically participated in the laboratory experiments.Driven by my passion towards Life Sciences, I spent my leisure hours and free periods in the school rummaging through books on Cell structure and Human Anatomy. I have read a substantial number of books outside the prescribed curriculum of my school’s syllabus and ‘The Biology of Cancer’ by Robert A. Weinberg and the classic “Origin of Species” by Charles Darwin are on the top of the list of my favorite books. I also make an endeavor to garner more knowledge about neuroscience by surfing through the sites such as Mayoclinic.org, emedicine.med.com and webmd.com. I was always a keen participant in extempore, debates, declamations and dramatics. These activities aided a lot in augmenting my self-confidence and public speaking skills. During my school life, I have also participated in a wide array of sports. I was school captain of football team and won several leagues, including a zonal football championship.Since grade 7th when the topic of Cell and its structure was introduced, I have been desirous of making my niche in this field. I was fortunate enough to get excellent mentors at the school who fueled my interest and helped generously in expanding the horizon of my knowledge. After completing under graduation, I want to work in the field of Clinical research and then take up research on different types of novel diseases affecting humankind. Ten years down the line, I visualize myself an Clinical researcher working in the field of cancer related to Cardiology or Heart.
