About Ananda Rutherford

I am a museum collections specialist and researcher with extensive experience in collections project management, documentation, and digitisation. I have held roles at Tate, Museum of the Home, Crafts Council and the V&A and I continue to work as a freelance consultant alongside a research role at UAL’s Decolonising Arts Institute. I am currently working with iniva on the development of their Heritage Fund Living Legacies project. My research and professional practice focus on ethical and equitable collections information, the history and governance of museums in relation to their collections documentation, the digitisation of heritage collections, and ethics as practice at the intersection of research, collections and technological innovation. With over two decades of experience in collections care, documentation and research, I am dedicated to challenging structural racism in cataloguing and interpretation practices and advocating for more inclusive and ethical approaches to collections management.
