About Anandavalli Narayanan

Dr. N. Anandavalli is Senior Principal Scientist CSIR - Structural Engineering Research Centre Chennai. She completed her graduation from University of Madras 1991 winning "The Rao Bahadur S.Subbarayachariyar Medal" for first rank. She received Ministry of Human Resources Scholarship for pursuing her post graduate studies at PSG College of Technology Coimbatore (1993). She received the CSIR-JRF and SRF fellowship (1993 - 1996). She was awarded Ph.D. from Anna University (2012) for her work on 'Experimental and analytical studies on laced reinforced concrete and laced steel-concrete composite elements' which was highly commended by Indian and Foreign examiners. Her research interests include blast response behaviour of structures computational methods sustainable materials and multi-scale modelling involving nano-micro-meso-macro scales of composite materials. She is recipient of “The Sir Arthur Cotton Memorial Prize” from Institution of Engineers (India) 2003. She was recognised as one of the "India's Most Inspiring Women Engineers & Scientists 2014" by Engineering Watch India's most prestigious magazine dedicated to Engineering Community. She has nearly 65 papers in international and national journals and conferences and 100 technical / research reports to her credit. One national patent and one international patent on 'Laced Composite System' has been filed based on her work. US patent on Laced Composite System has been granted. She is Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) Life Member of Indian Concrete Institute Member of Computer Society of India Member of Indian Association for Computational Mechanics and Member ofAmerican Society of Civil Engineers Currently she is involved in developing connection schemes for Laced Steel-Concrete Composite (LSCC) panels. LSCC system was conceived and developed by CSIR - SERC. This system has enhanced ductility and support rotation which finds its suitable for blast resistant construciton
