I scrutinize all of these along with their biochemistry, clinical signs, symptoms and the specific mechanism of their disease(s) that is affecting them to understand their problems even better. Compassionately, I intervene medically & surgically to treat a vast number of animal species. I rely on blood tests, X-Rays, EKGs, Ultrasound, Biopsies, MRI, CT-Scans, Cardiac Sonograms, Endoscopy, and a number of other state of the art scientific instruments and tests to make diagnoses. From sore throat to cancer, from Diabetes to a broken femur, from stomach virus to colitis, from C-section to intestinal anastomosis surgery, from pneumonia to Asthma, from congestive heart failure to lung cancer to hypertension can all be in a day's work for me! To anesthetize my animal patients, I use the same anesthesia machines and anesthetics that your anesthesiologist uses to give you anesthesia. I use the same monitoring equipment to monitor blood pressure, oxygen concentration of blood, respiration/heart rate, CO2 concentration, EKG, and other parameters when an animal is under anesthesia as your Anesthesiologist uses. With my DVM degree (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) comes the responsibility to be an internist, cardiologist, anesthesiologist & surgeon for all your animals! Unlike MDs who rarely if ever get a chance to take somebody's blood pressure, give him a blood test, take his EKG, do chest radiographs, perform a pleurocentesis, give anesthesia and then perform cancer surgery on the same patient in their hospital/clinic, I do all of these on a patient when needed. My animal patients don't speak an oral language but they are perfectly capable of communicating with me. Working as a veterinary surgeon, I have found peace, fulfillment, personal spiritual growth and a noble cause that warms my heart.
