About Anco Peeters

I'm an academic researcher with degrees in Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence specialising in the relation between AI and human well-being. Working as a lecturer at the School of AI and researcher at the Donders Centre for Cognition, both at Radboud University Nijmegen, I strive to answer the question: “How, if at all, do we flourish with artificial intelligence?” In my work, I examine the relevant moral concerns and behavioural influence of AI-systems through the lenses of virtue ethics and embodied cognition. I am chair of the bachelor's Degree Programme Committee (DPC) of Artificial Intelligence at Radboud University. My research agenda is emancipatory, with a special eye on those from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds, and makes a societal impact. I regularly give presentations to non-scientific audiences and collaborate with governmental, ngo, and healthcare partners. For example, I've advised national and local governments on the ethics of AI, was board member of the Filosofisch Café Nijmegen, contribute to NOLAI projects on AI at schools, and advise medical professionals on AI in healthcare (PersOn / ELSA).
