About Anders Raustorp
With a background as Physical Educator and Physiotherapist Anders held a central position in the creation of Physical Activity on Prescription (Fysisk aktivitet på recept) during 1998-2005. In 2005 his thesis Physical Activity, Body Composition and Physical Self Esteem was successfully defended. Anders introduced pedometry (stegräknaren) in Swedish research and in Swedish Health Care System, in the pilot education for Physical Activity on Prescription (FaR utbildning), in 2001. His research of more than 50 scientifically publications includes Global Step per day recommendations, Time trends of objectively measured physical activity and he is an authority in pedometry. Among the international contributions Anders has represented the WCPT (World Confederation of Physical Therapy) at WHO Childhood Obesity Prevention meeting in 2009, and at the 2013 WHO Global Health Promotion meeting. Anders has served as member of several expert groups, among them for Public Health Agency in Sweden in the creation of Guidelines and recommendations for Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour 2021. He is an appreciated lecturer and have given numerous speeches nationally and some abroad. From July 2019 -June 2024 he held the position as Vice Head of the Department of Food, Nutrition & Sport Science at University of Gothenburg. From 2013 to June 2024 he held the position Director for Third Cycle Studies in in Nutrition and in Sport Science at the University of Gothenburg
