Hi, I'm Anderson – yes, that's actually my first name!**I'm a driven scientist with a passion for drug discovery, combining a love for biology with a deep curiosity for the molecular mechanisms behind illness. My journey began with a fascination for insects, which led me to study venomous animals during my bachelor’s. I spent my early research years focusing on the venom of scorpionfish, driven by a desire to find solutions to coastal accidents.My academic path took me to the University of São Paulo, where I earned my master's and PhD, diving deeper into the world of venomous creatures and later shifting my focus to hematophagous insects like ticks and mosquitoes. My work involved purifying molecules from mosquito saliva and testing them in models of inflammation and multiple sclerosis, always with the goal of uncovering potential new therapies.Currently, I’m based in Sweden, where I've spent the last nine years working in cancer research, primarily using the Cellular Thermal Shift Assay (CETSA) technique. My work has centered around understanding how drugs interact with proteins in live cells, revealing both known and novel mechanisms of action. My latest project, which was recently published, explored the convergent mechanisms of seven different cancer drugs, identifying biomarkers that could eventually guide clinical practice.Beyond the lab, I bring a broad range of technical expertise to the table, from mass spectrometry and HPLC to Western Blotting, FACS, and intravital microscopy.
