About Andi Basile

Cut through the confusion and clutter in audio-visual I have been in the Audio-Visual Integration industry since 2004 when I looked in the yellow pages for "audio" in Boston MA. My life in technology goes back to the 1990’s when my interest in music and audio recording led me to pick up tools, solder microphone cables and build acoustic treatments. When I relocated to Austin, Texas in the summer of 2006 I worked at The University of Texas at the College of Engineering as a part-time audio-visual installer. It was at The University of Texas that I became familiar with the expectations of a technology support team in an academic environment. After my summer at UT, I took a full-time position as a Lead Technician for Data Projections Inc. It was at Data Projections where I came into my own as an technician since I was working alone. Installation tasks that I normally would assist on I now had to take ownership of and master. Since 2009, I have been a freelance audio-visual installer primarily with my own company, Catamount AV. In the last three years, I have had a string of Austin businesses as clients and I have created a particular niche installing sound-systems in restaurants. Through my clients I have absorbed lessons in dependably from their business models that I try to incorporate into my customer service. When I have lulls in my installation schedule for Catamount AV, I take on sub-contracting work. The most notable is the national integration firm Whitlock for whom I worked as a temp employee for six months in 2011, then on an as-needed basis until last year. With Whitlock, I was able to take on the large-scale scopes of work that large corporate and government clients commission. With Catamount AV I have had to take on the roles of installer, designer, salesperson and project manager all at the same time.
