Health and Safety Officer, Ceres On a Pilot Project for Earthquake Debris Management funded by the World Bank in Cité Sole, Port-au-Prince, Haïti. My responsibilities consist of the training of office staff, supervisors, and laborers on OSHA health and safety standards, the use and importance of PPE, flagging, fire extinguishers, indentifying different types of fires, hand tool safety, and all known hazard prevention measures. I conduct briefings with site nurses on first-aid interventions as well as record keeping of job and non-job related injuries. I monitor daily activities on the landfill ensuring that the procedures and policies of Ceres and OSHA are being respected. I conduct continuous training programs for new workers, supervisors, skilled and unskilled laborers on the different policies and procedures of Ceres and OSHA. I hold briefings with heavy equipment operators (dozers, rollers, loaders, graders, bobcats, and excavators) and dump truck drivers on daily equipment checks, as well as briefings on the importance of their constant awareness of their surroundings, environment, and the mass of people working around them. Constantly remind them of the importance of coordinating with flaggers on the site. I conduct air quality tests on the landfill using two different types of hand held testers (IBRID MX6 & BUCK Libra Plus) to insure a safe and secure work environment. I report work related incidents/accidents working side by side with the supervision Team,(SNC/Lavalin), LGL on hazard preventative methods, and all other safety practices.
