About Andre Hammond

I currently work as a medic in the United States Air force. When I enlisted in the military in 2009 I had no idea what I was getting myself into. First of all, there are unknowns. What base would I be going to? Will I like my new job? What will be the differences between civilian life and the military? There were many questions out there and many blind spots that I did not know about myself. Well, along the journey I have grown and become a student, Nationally Registered EMT, supervisor, and leader. My job from just being an EMT has evolved into a Flight & Operational Medicine Technician. My job is to conduct medical record reviews, book appointments, assist pilots with maintaining qualifications, treat patients, and lead a team of medics and other medical staff. Some of the leadership skills I have developed are transformational and transactional leadership. In order to have an effective team, a leader has to know how to effectively motivate each team member. If there is anything I can say about this job is that I love the gratification you receive from helping out a patient and providing a thankless service.
