Some people have a hard time believing it now, but (brace yourself) I was once a little bit of a geek before I got into university. And ever since then I’ve taken a pride in helping bring out the best in people and organizations. In my time at Safeway, I honed and demonstrated my- Solid IT/Information Technology Skills: I quickly acquired mastery of any new software or application I worked with, including Excel, VBA, Access Database, SQL, PeopleSoft, and SAP- Excellent Analytical Skills: I determined the cause of $1.15 million of transactions that erroneously appeared on the income statement after consolidating several legacy system accounts into one new balance sheet account- Strong Organizational Skills: With prioritizing tasks and my IT skills, I added another 2.5 hours per workday to the busiest desk in our fast-paced accounting department. I used the extra freed time to accommodate more ad hoc requests and seek ways to help coworkers and managers with their projects. Besides my time at Safeway, I mentored and guided CGA final year students to successfully passing their exams before earning their professional accounting designations. Later, I provided the dependable anchor needed by a century-old church to help it through a period of transition and help it keep its doors open and continue to be the viable community resource it is today. I love collaborating and using my expertise and talents to solve problems, improve systems, and bring out the best in organizations in the higher aim of making people’s lives better and more enjoyable.
