About Andre Oliveira

Many people talk about a passion for their work. I’ve been living it since the age of nine when my Mechanical Engineer father brought home a LEGO Technic car and gantry crane. I assembled the sets in three sleepless days. My favourite thing? Changing the crane’s gearbox ratio and testing the weight it could lift. It’s precisely then that I fell in love with engineering. At 13, I keenly undertook an AutoCAD course under the guidance of a top mechanical designer, and began sketching for my dad who patiently listened to my ideas, and even applied some to his designs. At 16, I learned to use the calculation software Cypecad METÁLICAS 3D, purchased by our family business in Brazil (thanks dad for explaining reaction forces, yield stress and momentum). Then at 19, I started designing for the business (cranes, naturally), and freelancing in the manufacturing industry. Now, with an engineering degree, MBA in Project Management (and growing pursuit of 3D printing in my spare time), I’ve been putting all this to use in Australia since 2017. So sure, I come with an exotic (!) accent. But also with extensive experience, natural leadership skills and an inexhaustible appetite to engineer something that might one day change lives. Cranes, or otherwise.
