Elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in November 2018 - Member of the Economic Matters committee - Vice-Chair Alcohol Subcommittee and Prince George’s delegation Bi-County committee -Served Prince George’s County as Councilmember for District 5 from 2008-2018 - Collaborated with colleagues in areas of land-use policy, economic development, and effective public policy - Council Chair for 2011-2013 legislative years, leading a 9-member board, approving $3B budget and an organization of employees in total- Chaired the Health, Education, Human Services Committee (year), Planning, Zoning, Economic Development Committee (year); assigned to Public Safety, Fiscal Management Committee (year) and Rules and General Assembly Committee (year)- Served as Council’s representative on the Dimensions Health Systems Corporate Board of Directors 2011-2016 - Served as Vice Chair of County Council during the 2009-2010 legislative session; chief negotiator on the County budget and the County’s Pension Board. Chaired the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, a $50M organization with over 120 employees as Chair during the 2010 calendar year- Directed partnership and collaboration with elected leaders within the Washington Metropolitan Area on policy decisions impacting regional issues such as transportation, water and air quality, and emergency management Led the National Association of Black County Officials, a 100+ membership organization, as President during 2014-2015 membership years, partnering and collaborating with black county elected officials across the nation in policy advocacy- Board member of the National Organization of Black County Officials since 2009, the 501(c)3 arm, to provide educational workshops in land use, health policy and disparities, infrastructure, environmental justice, economic development and public safety- Served as 1st Vice Chair during the 2014-2015 membership year -Board member for Prince George’s Community College Foundation - Board member of Financial Services Corporation
