About Andrea Lansing

During the course of my career and internships, I have been given the opportunity to interact with different types of individuals and families from many different backgrounds. In both individual and group sessions, I have assisted clients with their problems and helped them seek the proper resources or treatment they need. My professional experiences have also given me training in: The Purple Umbrella Project (LBGT), Undoing Racism Conferences, Ethics, Trauma Informed Care, and recording and handling confidential information in accordance to HIPAA guidelines. My experience also includes mental health services for women on probation and parole and skill-building services for at-risk youth and youth residential treatment. I work with a wide range of individuals seeking help in mental health issues, anger management, self-esteem, life transition, struggles in family dynamics, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, anxiety, low self-esteem and mood disorders. I currently hold an Iowa Licensure for my LISW I co-presented the topic:"Impact of Service Dogs" at the NASW Iowa Chapter Annual Symposium in April 2015 and The Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program of Directors in Dallas, Texas. This presentation will demonstrate the successful use of service dogs in reducing negative behaviors, including a decrease in aggressive behaviors and an increase in positive relationships. The presentation will also include a demonstration of the pet therapy techniques. In June 2016, I completed a year and half course to get certified in "Training for Adoption Competency".
