About Andrea Mannocci

IN A NUTSHELL: Data science, societal impact of data analysis, science of science, scholarly communication and scholarly knowledge mining,(research) data infrastructures. Studies: Andrea Mannocci holds a PhD in Ingegneria dell'informazione (Information Engineering) from the University of Pisa in 2017. He has been awarded a BSc (3 years) and a MSc (2 years) degrees in Computer Science Engineering in 2007 and 2010 respectively from the University of Pisa. Besides that, he holds another MSc in Telematic Engineering from the University of Carlos of Madrid (UC3M) completed in 2011. Research: Currently holding a position as Researcher at the Institute of Science and Information Technologies (ISTI-CNR) in Pisa, Italy. Here, he takes part in the analysis of the OpenAIRE Graph, an Scholarly Knowledge Graph mapping of scientific production, services, funders, and repositories so to enable sharing, discovery, and monitoring of research activities for communities, institutions, and funders. From February 2017 to April 2019, he worked as Research Associate position at the Knowledge Media Institute (KMI) of the Open University of Milton Keynes, UK, where he was a member of the SKM3 (Scholarly Knowledge Modelling, Mining and sense Making, http://skm.kmi.open.ac.uk) group and worked on data science applied to scholarly big data and research analytics. From November 2012 to January 2017, he worked as Research Assistant at Institute of Science and Information Technologies (ISTI) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) based in Pisa. His research activities focused on the design and development of data infrastructures and data engineering solutions in support of research communities. From August 2009 to April 2010, he worked as Research Assistant at MaerskMoller Institute in Odense, Denmark where he developed and wrote his first MSc thesis about software evolution and software dynamic updates. From September 2010 to October 2011, he worked as Research Assistant at IMDEA Networks; his activities focused on 802.11 optimisations and on social network analysis and event forecast based on social media.
