About Andrea Shear

With 20 years of experience, I have performed comprehensive field investigations and evaluations across a broad range of construction materials, primarily focusing on the renovation of historic steel and concrete structures. My expertise includes designing structural and building envelope repairs, restorations, and modifications for adaptive reuse projects, including high-rise and historic commercial and office buildings, parking structures, residential buildings, and civil infrastructure. I have also provided construction period services and conducted special inspections for a variety of structures. Through my extensive experience with renovation projects in New York City, I have developed a detailed understanding of historic building construction and structural systems. I am a licensed Professional Engineer in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, and New York. Additionally, I am a Qualified Parking Structure Inspector and a Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector in New York City. I also hold ICC certifications as a Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector and a Structural Welding Special Inspector. I am a board member of the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY), co-chair of the SEAoNY Codes and Standards Committee, and on the General Requirements Subcommittee of the National Council of Structural Engineers Association (NCSEA)'s Code Advisory Committee.
