About Andreas Grapentin
I'm an Operating Systems Engineer and Researcher with a focus on heterogeneity and novel memory architectures, from NUMA to disaggregation and composability. I'm a passionate open-source contributor and co-maintainer of the GNU/Linux-libre distribution Parabola. During my time as a PhD student at the Operating Systems and Middleware group at HPI, I gained comprehensive insights into memory architectures on all layers of the software/hardware stack, as well as a deep understanding of the internals of operating systems. I have several semesters of teaching experiences both at HPI and externally. I believe that a strong foundation and education in engineering is a necessary prerequesite for any leadership role in tech and academia. I have pursued a PhD in the field of IT Systems Engineering to be able to merge research and engineering, and gain the skills necessary to work on the next quantum leap in computer systems.
