About Andreas Jurewitsch

As a Teacher and Academic Advisor, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse and talented students, at the middle school, high school, and the adult basic education level. I have experience teaching Math, Social Studies, and Woodshop Projects. I also had the opportunity to provide guidance and support to help students achieve their academic and career goals. I have been in this role for over 18 years now, and I still enjoy every moment of it. Before joining Upper Mississippi Academy, I worked as an Interim Education Director and an Instructor and Academic Advisor at Takoda Institute of Higher Education, a small school that offers high-quality education and training to Native American and low-income students. I taught various subjects, such as English, History, and Business, and I also helped students with transitions, transportation, and health issues. I was part of the Takoda team for over three years, and I learned a lot about indigenous cultures from my students and colleagues. I have a B.A. in Social and Economic History from the University of Hamburg, and a M.A in US History from IU in Bloomington, IN. I am fluent in English and German. My passion is to keep on learning and to become a better teacher, mentor, and coach. My ultimate goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of the people I encounter throughout my life.
