About Andreas Meidell

I hold a doctoral degree in law and am the partner responsible for Thommessen’s insurance and reinsurance practice. I am part of the firm’s Litigation group. My practice concentrates mainly on litigating commercial insurance claims and coverage issues, such as marine/energy insurance (hull, P&I, LoH and war), property and liability insurance (including business interruption covers), cargo insurance, as well as reinsurance. I assist a wide range of insurance clients, both Norwegian and international, and have recently advised insurers in relation to cover for damage caused by acts of terrorism and piracy; a London syndicate of energy insurers in relation to offshore property insurance claims; a building contractor in relation to claims under a builders all risk insurance; as well as numerous Hull, Loss of Hire and P&I claims in maritime matters. I am also a frequent litigator and appointed arbitrator in Norwegian and international arbitrations. I give university lectures on marine insurance, and has published legal essays on these subjects. Currently I am the president of the Norwegian Maritime Law Association (CMI).
