About Andreas Sandin

As a result of my recent PhD studies of graphene and its interfaces, I am committed to pursue an industrial R&D position in which I can lead efforts to apply advanced new materials in electronic and optoelectronic devices. My deep interest and knowledge involves new materials for novel low-dimensional device structures, especially for carbon-based electronics. My doctoral research focused on growth, interface modification, and electronic characterization of the 2D-crystal graphene which is widely regarded as a promising new material for the advancement of the electronics industry. My background in the basic physics of this advanced electronic material prepares me to produce new innovations in device applications. I have expertise in scanning tunneling microscopy & spectroscopy, Auger electron Spectroscopy, Low Energy electron diffraction, and ultrahigh vacuum maintenance and design/construction. I also possess versatile experience from my dual background in engineering physics and physics: clean room operations, thin-film metal evaporation, Scanning electron/Focused Ion beam microscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy, and spin-polarized photoemission. I have played an important leadership role in the creation of an experimental graphene research group at North Carolina State University. My strong motivation to create new applications of the most advanced new electronic materials like graphene will allow me to play a similar role in an industrial position. My desire is to continue my career in by focusing on research and development at a corporation with the vision to be a leader in new materials applications and technologies.
