Research Lead at FIFA responsible for all scientific research within FIFA Medical. https://inside.fifa.com/about-fifa/medical/research We are working to influence decisions on health-related issues in football through incorporation and development of high-quality scientific evidence. We want to be a global connection point for medical research in football and facilitate the development and implementation of high-quality scientific research and empower confederations and member associations to shape the future of health in football. The goal is that we can optimize the development and sharing of knowledge on player health, which can improve quality across contexts globally, and reduce resource requirements and research waste. We focus on creating processes than can make it easier for everyone to do high quality research in football enabling opportunities to answer some of the larger questions that are relevant for football globally. Explore some of our many research projects in this overview, which also includes information on guidelines and projects performed in football globally: https://inside.fifa.com/about-fifa/medical/research/projects-guidelines Previously, I worked as a clinician and researcher with a primary focus on groin pain in sport at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, an accredited FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence and an IOC Research Centre. As a clinician, I primarily treated football players with groin pain. This ranged from recreational players to UEFA champions league winners and players from numerous national teams in Europe, Asia, and Africa. I have also treated Olympic Gold medal swimmers, world championship skiers and track and field athletes, and more. Additionally, I have functioned as a consultant in the clinical management for several premier league football clubs, as well as NFL and MLB teams and more. I am still ranked as a global leading researcher within the field of groin pain (https://expertscape.com/ex/groin). I have focused on all aspects of injury management, including injury mechanisms, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. I have presented at numerous sports medicine conferences in Europe, Africa, North and South America, and Asia. I truly enjoy advancing knowledge through high quality and clinically relevant research.
