About Andreas Toms

Chosen the branch of imaging system technologies within the "Medical Engineering" Bachelor at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, my focus developed mainly towards the electronical part. As I wrote my Bachelor thesis in the field of magnetomotive ultrasound as a evaluation tool for functionality of magnetic drug targeting for local cancer treatment I gathered first knowledge about this imaging system. Fortunately I could deepen that aspect within my student job at ELCAT GmbH, Wolfratshausen (BY) where I got insight in different ultrasound systems and their signal generation and processing. My main task there is clinical research in libraries like PubMed, Cochrane for product admission. Promoted by the chair of graphic data processing (LGDV) and funded by the DAAD (German academic exchange service) I was allowed to spend one semester (2017) at the UFPR (Universidade Federal do Paraná) in Curitiba, Brazil. Beside my progresses in Portuguese I first got in touch there with the area of Neural Networks, a topic that I dedicate myself currently in the masters´ course "Deep Learning", where Neural Networks are programmed from scratch in Python. Currently I´m studying in the FAU Master Course "Medical Electronics" and tend to deepen my knowledge in the very interesting area of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, supported through lectures like high frequency technology.
