About Andreea Negru

Building my career in risk management has been a cornerstone of my professional development. Managing risks within a company requires a deep understanding not only of financial and operational data but also of the core business dynamics, including capital markets. Over 14 years in the oil and gas industry, I focused on refining and downstream operations, with extensive experience in trading and supply chain management. During this time, I played a key role in establishing and expanding a risk management department. Initially centered on financial risk management, the department later evolved to include enterprise risk management, credit risk, and insurance. This comprehensive experience provided me with a holistic view of a highly dynamic and volatile environment—an industry that serves as both a key driver of global GDP and a vital energy provider navigating the transition to renewable energy sources. One of the most valuable skills I developed during this period was utilizing derivatives as a risk mitigation tool for market and credit risks. Last year, I made a pivotal career shift to capital markets, focusing specifically on private equity. This transition has allowed me to broaden my scope from managing risks within a single sector (oil and gas) to addressing risks across the broader economic landscape, a challenge I see as a significant advantage.
