Background
About Andrei Ganshyn
My research interests are centered on experimental low and ultra low temperature con- densed matter physics. They include: quantum fluids and solids; superconducting thin ¯lm processing; phase transitions and nucleation processes; the Casimir effect; critical phenomena in nano-systems; nonlinear wave dynamics and wave turbulence, vortex turbulent phenomena in superfluid 4He and 3He down to absolute the zero temperatures; neutron scattering from quantum fluids, experimental technique such as 4He - 3He dilution refrigerator, nuclear- demagnetization refrigerator and thermometer at ultra low temperatures. Working at Cornell University and FRIB I gained a wide experience in accelerator particle physics and large scale cryogenics: the improvement of Superconducting Radio Frequency cavities performance, development new temperature wave (superfluid second sound) interferometer for visualization of surface defect at high accelerating field (up to 45 MV/m), magnetic shielding, role of the Kapitza resistance for cavity performance, precise field and temperature measurements. At FRIB, large scale cryogenics and support of National Superconducting Cyclotron, installation, commissioning of new cryogenics systems with Linde 900W cryoplant for new SRF High Bay cavity Vertical Testing facilities, new cryogenics system for FRIB, managing all cryogenics activity of NSCL and FRIB laboratory, such as new SRF VTA facilities, ReA3 Linac, magnet facility, etc. Successful testing at 4.2K and 2K FRIB cryomoduls. Static and dynamic heat load measurements, study thermo acoustic phenomena during cryomodules cool down. Managing cryogenic procedures and safety regulations during 24/7 cryogenics operation.
