About Andrei Hertog

In 2012 I finished the Polytechnic University in Bucharest with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialized in HVAC. Later that year i started a job as an engineer with a small company in Bucharest called Airsystems. I worked there for 3 months after which me and the company decided to part ways as it wasn't the best fit for us. During this time I met my, then future wife, she worked in tourism and because my personal situation at the time warranted it (I was the only money earner in the family, entry level mechanical engineering salary at the time, not that great), I left engendering and went the way of tourism. It went very well, started with Viking Cruises in 2013 as a local host, then Tour Director locally in Romania. 2020 came and the disease that we shall not name reared its ugly head so tourism collapsed. During my years working with guests, clients, tourists I learned many things, firstly language, as I worked with 99 percent American guests we spoke, of course, English. I became fluent and you could say it's my first language now as I spoke much more English than Romanian. Second, as a Tour Director I was most of the time alone in charge of groups that had over 40 guests in them, even up to 190. As you can imagine, groups this big often have all kinds of problem that I needed to resolve in a fast but most importantly 'nice' way so I wouldn't spoil the guests vacation. Problem solving, group management, customer service and satisfaction, crisis management are just some of the things I learned during my years of being a Tour Director. Of course I still have the background in engineering my bachelors degree offers and during the years I developed a woodworking hobby increasing my practical skills and ability to work with my hands.
