About Andrei Teodorescu

I am a GIS Specialist at the Township of Langley, recently promoted after two years of maintaining and updating infrastructure and cadastral datasets in the ArcGIS enterprise geodatabase. In my new role at the Operations building, I create hardcopy maps, develop GIS applications, build spatial system integrations, and respond to requests for spatial analysis to support informed decision-making across the organization. My journey in GIS began during my studies at Simon Fraser University (SFU), where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography and a GIS Certificate. I further advanced my skills through the GIS Advanced Diploma at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Recognizing the potential of drones in the GIS industry, I recently completed the Mapping with Drones Certificate from the University of Victoria (UVic), expanding my expertise in emerging geospatial technologies.Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a commitment to quality, collaboration, and innovation. As a Watershed Governance Initiative GIS Intern with the Regional District of Central Kootenay, I created a compelling Story Map that encapsulates my work analyzing watershed data, conducting literature reviews, and engaging with community groups (check it out here: https://arcg.is/0qKWG1). This project involved presenting actionable recommendations to government agencies and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders. At the City of Abbotsford, I played a vital role in modernizing underground utility services, digitizing water, sanitary, and storm systems for over properties. By implementing rigorous data quality control measures and providing valuable insights, the project was completed in under two years, significantly improving service delivery and infrastructure planning.Beyond technical expertise, I value effective communication and teamwork, recognizing their importance in delivering successful outcomes. Whether addressing GIS data challenges or supporting cross-departmental initiatives, I approach every task with dedication and a results-driven mindset.I am always eager to connect with professionals who share a passion for leveraging GIS technology to make a meaningful impact. Let’s connect and collaborate to drive innovation in the GIS industry!
