About Andres Osorio

PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ in start-up environment and 2+ years in academia. In industry I have worked in an R&D roles focused on design, validation and prototype testing. In academia I specialized in Fire Safety Engineering education, research and consulting. I have more than seven years experience in the design, construction, and validation of specialized test in support of product development and/or research. Some examples include design of combustion experiments in microgravity applications, accelerated life testing (HALT), and harsh environments (high-temperature). While in industry I had the chance to work in the design, development, and prototype testing of a consumer product. I was responsible for the development of systems requirements, including software and hardware, and I also led the development of a DFMEA and FTA at the component and systems level. In academia, my research focused on quantifying flammability of materials in the built environment. This included understanding how material composition affect material ignition and flame spread behavior, and how this affects the fire safety of occupants and buildings.
