About Andres Sosa

I'm a diverse professional with 7+ years of experience in corporate healthcare. I've worn several hats throughout my career, including health promotion specialist and team lead. This year, I embark on my next journey as I graduate with my B.A. in Atmospheric Science and become a certified Meteorologist. I'm proud to serve my community and I’m eager to showcase the skills I honed during my non-profit era on this new expedition. I am originally from Venezuela, although the USA has been my home for over two decades. I have been featured in national and international media outlets in interviews concerning LGBTQ+ visibility, Hispanic healthcare, and gay men’s healthcare. It was my honor to serve as a panelist for the Men’s Wellness Conference, where I honed my public speaking, event planning, and community outreach skills. In my current role, I am passionate about improving accessibility to healthcare for underrepresented communities and immigrants in the greater Miami-Dade area. I am a certified SKYWARN spotter and acquired additional atmospheric science certifications at Comet MetEd. I was graciously offered a scholarship at FIU to pursue my degree in Atmospheric Science and I am seeking tutelage from established members in the field. My research interests are in teleconnections, atmospheric chemistry, ENSO, and AMO.
