Hello. and thanks for taking a moment to learn more about me! I've decided to utilize this space to better explain my recent career break:During the summer of 2019, my father-in-law died suddenly, and my wife and I were left to care for my mother-in-law, who has Alzheimer's disease. Shortly thereafter, we moved into my mother-in-law's house to care for her more intensively. Just months later, the pandemic delivered another blow to our once tranquil life. Once restrictions began to lift and people started returning to work, we were left with figuring out how to balance the financial needs of our family with the needs of my mother-in-law, who was increasingly in need of round the clock care for her condition. We realized that we valued flexibility with scheduling over the security of a full time paycheck and, since I had several years of experience caring for Alzheimer's patients, we decided that I would stay home full time to care for my mother-in-law. That decision came with new hurdles, as there were still bills to be paid, even as I stayed home to care for my family. I needed work that allowed flexibility with scheduling, but still helped me to make the ends meet. In the beginning, it was Uber Eats, then Uber and Lyft. All the while I kept my eyes open for new opportunities, opportunities which I continue to look for and find, maybe even with you.As a result of following this path, I am more motivated, more organized and have more confidence in my ability to achieve whatever task is set before me. I have also learned the value of developing and maintaining a good professional reputation. All the work that I have, I have acquired based on the reputation I have developed for being a hard worker and a team player.On top of that, I still have decades of experience, in both retail and mental health settings. My years in retail have honed my "people skills", while my years in mental heath have given me the tools to constructively work with frustrated, difficult or otherwise challenging personalities without losing my composure. These skills extend to my demeanor in interactions with my coworkers as well.
