About Andrew Bond

With a career spanning IT, sales, consulting, sustainable construction and 28+ LEED projects, Andrew built a supremely satisfying career working with teams to deliver affordable, sustainable and efficient built environments. Whilst disability paused this rise, he is now seeking a return to academic study and research in the Space Architecture and Lunar/Mars construction field. Industry partners will be sought to ensure his focus is timely, required and innovative. His title of Martian Plumber came from his work at the Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, where he volunteered to re-plumb the freshwater system for the entire habitat. This also provided an excellent opportunity to better understand the practical challenges of living in space. Andrew's experience brings a focus on the process and ‘construct-ability’ of projects, and how design decisions impact on risk, schedules, costs and quality. This insight allows him to communicate at all levels, from client to contractor, and using custom tools create project specific plans to ensure the achievement of client goals. These changes have been achieved through needs analysis, realistic goal setting and most critically; clear contracts and specifications. Combined with custom electronic information gathering, monitoring and real-time results, this has allowed flexibility in decisions, lowered costs and improved performance.
