About Andrew Call

I have more than two decades of work experience in the fields of education, social services, and anti-money laundering. At heart, I consider myself a logical problem-solver, a teacher, as well as a student, and I am driven by a desire to find solutions that better the lives of people and society. I believe in a direct, pragmatic, and evidence-based approach to answering fundamental questions and making decisions that are beneficial to those impacted. While I excelled in mathematics throughout school, it was my love of history and reading that motivated me to go into teaching social studies, originally. However, throughout my life as well as my career, I have taken an interest in data, logical processes, and analyzing statistics. As a homeless program supervisor, I not only collected and compiled data from my own case work in the streets, but I was tasked with computing, compiling, and arranging data that was crucial to decision making, at both the local, and state levels. Through the totality of my work, I played a primary role in housing well over 300 homeless individuals and families over a span of 3 and ½ years. A couple of years ago, I completed an intensive data science career track through Springboard, focusing on Python and SQL. Post-completion, I am continuing to practice and develop these skills and soon plan to expand to other key data science tools. At the same time, I have begun working in the anti-money laundering field, helping to identify patterns and activities in order to mitigate financial crime risk for financial institutions. Outside of my career, I am a father of 2, and a lover of both music and sports. I have been playing the guitar since I was 14, and I really enjoy playing and collaborating with other musicians. I have participated in a number of different sports, and I have also spent over a dozen seasons coaching youth soccer.
