Our Team performs investigations under The Animal Care Act of Manitoba and delivers Emergency Response Services for companion animals within the City of Winnipeg, 365 days a year. I mentor and guide a dedicated Team of Animal Protection Officers, Emergency Responders and Emergency Dispatchers, along with our Manager, who are the frontline in humanely providing a wide range of services for all animals. In 2023 we responded to over 2500 calls for service, with 64% of our calls falling under the Animal Care Act for Welfare/Cruelty investigations. In 2024, we bumped up slightly to 2600+ calls for service and 62% were Welfare/Cruelty investigations. These investigations often result in rescuing animals from disturbing and often dangerous situations. We will issue corrections to owners, and provide guidance, in relation to animal health and welfare within the scope of The Act. We also spend a lot of time preparing prosecutions where we have issued charges under The Act and/or ready files for Appeals before the Animal Care Appeal Board, for animals we have removed into care as provided by various provisions within The Act. In addition to our steady stream of calls for service, our Team assists our Community Outreach Department and deliver education sessions on animal welfare in Winnipeg Schools and at Kids Camps at WHS as well as educating WHS Animal Foster Parents on best practices, and the law, for animals removed under The Act. Background: Demonstrated success as a Change Agent when taking on new roles, including maximizing productivity by Team members while building a cohesive and supportive work environment. Extensive experience in Security Management holding Executive positions, as well as Senior Manager positions in both Operations and Sales with two National Companies, Canada wide, with hundreds of clients, and employees ranging from 200 - 1300. A brief overview of Clients includes Edmonton International Airport, Alberta Provincial Healthcare and Education facilities, Mining (Oil & Coal), Food Processing, large Retail Malls and Retail Chain Store coast to coast, Public Event locations as well as Construction and Private corporate settings. Retired Law Enforcement. 22 years as a Police Officer – Toronto – both Uniform and Detective branches with extensive experience investigating thousands of Crimes as well as preparing Court briefs for a vast array of Offences including – Homicides, Frauds, Robberies, Thefts, Sexual Assaults, Mischief, Obstruct Justice, Infant Abductions etc, and testifying in Courts, both Criminal and Civil proceedings.
