About Andrew Colby

Following my passion for working with youth in developmental settings I have already pursued jobs and internships from a young age to tip my toes in the water of youth development. I am a senior at the University of Arizona studying Literacy, Learning and Leadership in the College of Education. I am expected to graduate in May 2022. I have worked for two year as the sole youth director at my church creating a youth program, that had no participants before, that now meets regularly with about 6 to 8 kids weekly. I have spent my summers as a missions and camp counselor leading students in fun activities and community development projects. As the youth director of my church it is my responsibility to coordinate activities and lessons for the youth that attend. I put together fun activities to facilitate the youth getting to know each other, I coordinate service projects to teach them the importance of assisting the community, and teach Biblical lessons to build the foundations of their faith in the church they attend. During my summer internships I found my true passion for working with youth in community development. I enjoyed being in the mentorship position teaching youth how to use tools and put together projects. I also loved getting to meet so many students and getting to know who they are in such a short amount of time and to be able to encourage them throughout the different stages that they are in life. I hope to continue this passion by working in the missional ministry field where I can assist in community development while also working with youth through their own development.
