About Andrew D.

As a special education teacher, I am dedicated to the pursuit of professional excellence in public education. I believe that every child can learn, and every child should have access to a supportive yet rigorous education. I recently completed a Master of Science in Special Education at Dominican University and served as a teacher intern at Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, Ill. I previously worked as an instructional paraprofessional at Lockport Township Academy, the alternative education program for Lockport Township High School District 205. I am embarking on an exciting new career path. I hope to make a difference in the lives of teens. I had worked for more than 20 years as a freelance writer, editor and photographer with experience covering government, police and courts, business and community affairs in Chicago and the southwest suburbs. I received a bachelor’s degree in communication and business administration from St. Xavier University, Chicago. I am a lifelong resident of Chicago's south suburbs.
