About Andrew Downs

As a lifelong student of all things media, I began studying Graphic Arts heavily in the 1990's, learning the entire process from conception of design to developing a final product in regards to silk screening and offset lithography, honing these skills in high school and vocational school. I majored in music composition for two yeas at UMA and then traveled the West Coast for five years practicing in both disciplines along the way. After returning Maine I enrolled at SMCC in their New Media and Communication program to update my graphic design skills and hone new skills in Video and Audio production. During these years and subsequently I have independently produced music videos, documentaries, professional studio recordings, and designed business cards, album layouts, and websites, as well as User Interfaces. I feel my vast, multi-faceted experience sets me apart as a media specialist who can not only develop ideas, but carry them to completion in a professional product. I also understand what steps need to be taken to ensure proper delivery of a product to ensure the highest quality. My goals are to gain employment in a setting where I can contribute ideas, problem solve, and add value to every project with which I am involved. I work for every client as if I were the client ensuring the highest of standards within deadlines. My philosophy is to carry the clients vision forward with my skills. I operate a home-based recording and design studio in South Portland, Maine with the ability to deliver work in person or over the internet through zipfiles or send sites.
