About Andrew Frey

I've been working professionally as an independent audio engineer for 28+ years now. My education is a bachelor of music with an emphasis in recording technologies. Requirements for degree include four years of primary instrument lessons(percussion) with a solo senior recital and standard music classes for music degree at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. The fall of I began working for the Big Wu (MPLS jam rock band) as FOH engineer. I toured exclusively with the Big Wu until the spring of 2003. After my Big Wu days I have been freelance audio tech working at various MPLS/ St. Paul clubs, theaters and audio companies. June of 2012 I went back out on the road touring with Jonny Lang manning the monitor position through 2019. After the forced offseason of Covid, when shows came back, JL did not. I've stayed off the road focusing on being home in the Twin Cities and fortunate enough to be a part of 4 great venues. Graced with the opportunities to be the lead audio tech at 2 (Uptown Theater & Myth Live), and a part of championship caliber audio benches at 2 others (Palace Theater & the Fillmore MPLS). Also continuing to freelance at some quality companies filling in my gigs between all my houses. It's cool, all 4 are very different and keep my ears sharp.Specialties: FOH mix engineer, Monitor engineer (wedges and in ear mon), quality hang
