About Andrew Gardner

I am an IT professional who made the successful transition into the tech sector after spending seven years as an educator in Japan. Through self-study I was able to break into the field and have since continued to develop the skills necessary to succeed. I have obtained industry certifications from Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and CompTIA, and am thus familiar with cloud computing, networking, cybersecurity, and desktop support. I also have fundamental experience using Python and PowerShell. Over the course of my career I have gained a wide breadth of experience working with different technologies. Some of my responsibilities include-Managing user identities and access in Azure Active Directory and Office 365 Admin Center-Keeping systems secure by monitoring logs, conducting threat simulations, and ensuring 2FA policies are enforced-Providing support for network configuration and troubleshooting (device installation, cable migration, and coordination with overseas network teams)-Imaging and configuring Windows and MacOS devices-Conducting IT onboarding sessions for new users in both Japanese and English-Onsite and remote troubleshooting-Communicating with product vendors to coordinate purchases, repairs, and support. My experience in education has allowed me to develop many skills which harmonize well with any IT role, particularly: communication, teamwork, organization, and adaptability. My previous job as a teacher required me to adjust to my students’ needs and prepare for unpredictable situations. Coordination with other teachers on lessons, projects, and special events was also an essential part of my work. These skills have served me well when working with both users and overseas IT teams, as clear communication and quick thinking are essential to successfully resolve an issue. One the personal qualities I am most proud of is the desire to always keep learning. Whether it’s a new skill, language, or hobby, I strive to keep expanding my knowledge and pushing myself to be better. I know that my experience and perspective, coupled with my drive and work ethic, will be of great value to any organization.
