About Andrew Hakanson

Throughout my career, I have enjoyed the challenge of juggling multiple projects (having many irons in the fire, so to speak) and solving complex problems. I’m always open to learning new things with flexibility being one of my strong suits – this has led me to the field that I work in – high technology. One of my passions is attention to detail – from tracking all aspects of a work project to planning and executing lengthy backpacking trips, I thrive on the details. Another passion is my drive to see successful completion of a project - seeing a fix come to fruition. In the high technology industry, I have had the opportunity to work in multiple organizations on projects involving continuous improvement, process development, cost savings and process optimization. As a motivated process engineer, I have worked with cutting edge nanotechnology equipment and processes. My current role allows me to better understand the production environment while branching out to integration & R&D. This role has been invaluable in teaching me the details of making a product production worthy, working cross-functional (and cross-site) projects and balancing the day to day aspects of keeping processes smoothly running. As a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt, I bring the ability to sift through the details and focus on the big picture as well as work with a diverse group of individuals. Through years of experience on projects, I find ways to apply my statistical data analysis skills (from crunching data to design of experiments). Acquiring an MBA has sharpened my interpersonal skills as I manage teams as well as provided a broader understanding of business that my chemical engineering degree alone doesn’t fully provide.
