I can definitely say, being part of the outstanding success of Plimsoll Studios is one of the proudest achievements of my career that started at the BBC in 1978. a long time ago! I joined Plimsoll in 2014, fresh from a fascinating time in the US as EVP of Landmarks and Specials for Discovery. Grant Mansfield, former CEO of Zodiak USA, had just set up shop with the hugely talented Christine Owen as COO. Grant took an extraordinary leap of faith, hiring a handful of talented Execs almost from day one. It worked. Because in just eight years he built a world renowned producer of premium documentary, reality and wildlife programmes, which in 2022 was valued at more than £130m ($170m) when ITV took a majority interest stake. Has anyone grown a production company quicker? Not many I'd guess. I've seen some incredible changes in the TV landscape and worked on some of the best shows ever made, with the best people you could ever want to work with. I've been Head of the prestigious BBC Natural History Unit, and Managing Director of one of the best adventure and wildlife producers, Tigress Productions. I’m now enjoying my retirement, working with the Bristol Old Vic - Britain’s oldest continually running theatre - and an exciting dance company, Impermanence, who are busy establishing Bristol’s first permanent dance centre. That, together with my work as a visiting Professor at UWE, keeps me busy. I might have left the world of TV production but supporting creativity will always be in my heart.
