About Andrew Jayasinghe

I am a manufacturing engineering tech student at San Jose State University, with a passion for creating innovative solutions for real-world problems. I have a strong interest and expertise in mechanical design, product design, and advanced CAD techniques, which I have developed through my education and work experiences. In my most recent internship at Berkeley Lab, I led the modernization of CAD documentation for Beam Line 6.1.2 of the XM-1 Soft X-ray Microscope, a state-of-the-art instrument for nanoscale imaging and material analysis. I created a comprehensive 3D model of the beamline, involving detailed digital reconstruction and manual measurements, and significantly contributed to the field of X-ray microscopy. I also gained valuable experience and skills in laser technology and spatial analysis, as I helped relocate the MET-5 EUV Lithography tool at the Advanced Light Source. Additionally, I am a chassis team member at Spartan Racing, where I design and build a competitive off-road vehicle, using Solidworks, welding, and metalwork. I collaborate with various subteams to integrate the chassis with other vehicle systems, and participate in the iterative design and testing process. I am eager to join an organization that values collaboration, creativity, and excellence, and that offers me an opportunity to grow and learn as a mechanical engineer.
